Join the social activities and discover The Hague on foot, by bicycle or by boat. Read all about the social activities that can be booked by ECHA participants and their partners. There is also an activity exclusively for partners: the Rotterdam excursion.
Participants of ECHA, who have already registered, can register for the social activities by email. If you have not registered for the conference yet, you can add the activities to your online registration.
Partners can fill out the online partner registration form to sign up for the partner programme, as well as for the social activities and the social functions at the conference (welcome reception and gala diner @ the beach).

City walk: architecture of The Hague
Boat tour through The Hague
A walk through The Hague accompanied by an experienced English-speaking guide.

- Duration of the walk: 1,5 – 2 hours
- Start & finish: Bierkade 19, The Hague (less than 20 minutes by public transport)

Highlights of The Hague
During this walk through the city of The Hague the guide will show you the highlights: the famous places and buildings. You will hear about the history, current affairs and the architecture of The Hague. The guide will also tell you about people who lived and worked in The Hague and about their influence on Dutch history. You will hear what has happened in The Hague over the centuries and what is happening today.
Architecture of The Hague
The guide will take you along the great variety of buildings that can be found in the city center of The Hague. You will enjoy a selection of styles: Gothic, Renaissance, Dutch Classicism, Baroque, Rococo, 19th-century neo-styles, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and contemporary architecture. The guide will tell you about the origin of the buildings, what they are intended for and about the architects.
Boat tour through The Hague
This 90 minutes boat tour will take you through the city centre of The Hague. By an experienced English-speaking guide, a resident of The Hague, who knows the city like the back of their hand.
Please be aware that some bridges require you to bend down deep as the bridges in the city are very low.

Gala dinner at the Beach
Gala dinner at the Beach: enjoy a delicious dinner in great company with a wonderful view of the sun set in the Noordzee!
Imagine yourself on the nicest beach of the Netherlands for the ECHA gala dinner at Boomerang Beach Club which is exclusively booked for this evening.
Start with a warm welcome with a festive drink and tasty snacks including the famous Dutch ‘bitterbal’. Enjoy the Yummy barbecue with many different dishes to choose from. At the end of the dinner, various delightful desserts are served. The chef works with fresh, sustainable and organic ingredients. The food includes vegetarian choices and special diet wishes can be requested in advance. Tap beer, wine, various soft drinks, water, coffee and tea are included during the entire evening.
During the dinner there is plenty of opportunity to talk with each other in a relax atmosphere. After dinner the music may even tempt you to dance while the sun is setting in the North Sea.
This will be a wonderful evening; one that you will cherish for a long time.
Scheveningen is part of The Hague and is the most popular seaside resort in the Netherlands. Scheveningen is a wonderful location with its kilometers of beaches. The entire ‘Zwarte Pad’, from the boulevard to the north side of the parking lot, houses about 12 beach clubs. One of them is the much-loved Boomerang Beach Club, where the ECHA gala dinner takes place. The “Zwarte Pad’ has a large parking lot and is the terminus of a number of trams and buses.

You are very welcome at the Boomerang Beach Club for the ECHA gala dinner, if your partner joins you on your trip, he/she/they is very welcome to sign up as well. Please sign up before Tuesday 16 August 2022.
You can add the gala diner when you register online. If you have already registered, please send an email to have the diner added to your registration. Partners can fill out the online partner registration form to sign up for the diner.

‘Trekschuit’ (tow barge) route
For lovers of beautiful Dutch landscapes, this boat route is a real must! You will see historic farms, beautiful houses and parks along the water. You will pass through harbours, past windmills and picturesque places.
